19 September 2012

We wanted to share our experience yesterday with our first messy weather. The children were all well equipped with their foul weather gear, and despite the stormy predictions we were able to have our meeting-of-the-day, a hike around all the areas of our outdoor classroom and some wonderful fun in the outdoor chalkboard, and running lawn areas!  We got sprinkled upon, but a great time was had by all. Way to go K-Wild!!

It's raining on the rooftops!
It's raining on the trees!
But when I put my rain coat on
it doesn't rain on me!
Rain, Rain. You may stay.
We'll play outside anyway!
Rain won't make us melt away.
Rain, Rain. You may stay.
We'll stomp in the puddles
and watch waters run!
Who would have thought
a rainy day could be such fun?

The rainy weather worked wonderfully into our lesson this week about our five senses. We talked about seeing it, hearing it, touching it and even tasting it. Inside we  split into 2 groups and played a game using our sense of smell, and our sense of touch. It was great fun to make discoveries using the senses only! We look forward to playing a listening game tomorrow and continuing to learning about our senses going into next week as well.
