Come on Spring!

Spring brings us new life...art, movement and fun!
Our K Wild kids make the best of everyday, but we are all ready for the warm spring sun! The weather has been up and down, but our time together is full of warmth.

We love how our class supports each other and teaches each other kindness.

On cold days we kept busy with art exploration and creativity...

Yes, that is a lot of indoor activity! But, we got outside every chance we had!

Spray watercolor on the snow!

And again...because it's just so fun!

A sign of spring....

We filled hollowed egg shells with paint and...dropped them!

We can't wait to see what spring brings us all!

It's Snow Time!

After a long week of being snowed in, we are so happy to be back at K-Wild!
Our class has been learning about winter activities such as hibernation and migration, but today it was all about SNOW!!

Indoors have been our cozy escape, with lots of creative collage activities.

Winter months are a great time to explore  the arts! We have wonderful art galleries in our area including Greater Reston Art Gallery, the Renwick Gallery in DC, Herndon Art Space, and of course the National Gallery. Plan a visit to see some beautiful art, let it inspire you and your children.  We have set up an art center in our class with pipe cleaners, Popsicle sticks, paper tubes, yarn, felt, ect... It is wonderful to see what our little artist will create!

Hello 2016!

I am sure we all felt the final weeks of 2015 slip away in the blink of an eye!
We were extremely busy and productive learners in the K Wild classes. Warm tempatures blessed us with unseasonable outdoor opportunities.
One of my favorites was our tepee construction and pretend Native American play.

We also decorated an outdoor tree for the holidays

It was an exciting time for all of us...preparing and anticipating the joyous holiday traditions.

We are blessed, here at St. David's to appreciate the true meaning of the holidays....LOVE!

Advice from a Tree....

We are blessed to be surrounded by the most beautiful and magestic trees here at St. David's! The past few weeks, we have taken our lesson plans from the trees. Let's see..."Advice from a Tree"
1. Stand Tall and Proud

2. Don't Forget Your Roots

Your children are contastly reminded of the love and support that surrounds them now and as they grow.

We talked about what we are thankful for and made a thankful tree...they are all most thankful for their families! They are thankful for good friends, too!

3. Take Time to Catch the Falling Leaves

4. Be Content with Yourself
By encouraging creativity and praising good behavior we help children build a positive image of themselves. Hands on exploration is key to creativity. We decorated pumpkins and made a fairy garden.

And finally #5. Count your blessing (and acorns, leaves, pumpkins....)

We are so thankful for the opportunity to work with your children and all the joy they bring us!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING
