Wednesday Friends: Blubber Experiment!

Our friends discover how penguins stay warm in the Antarctic Tundra.

In our Antarctic Tundra, we put one hand in the "blubber" bag and one hand in the empty bag.

Which bag provides more insulation?

Blubber!

Brrr! The Antarctic Tundra is too cold without blubber to keep us warm.

Our friends LOVED doing the "Penguin Shuffle."

Penguin feet ready, set, go!

It's hard work waddling like our penguin friends!

Our friends concentrate as they build their penguin measuring sticks.

What animal did these tracks come from?

We follow some animal tracks to an underground burrow...Who do you think lives there?

Follow the leader!

We sing Happy Birthday and listen to a silly story for our friend's birthday.

Tuesday/Thursday Friends Investigate Snowflakes

After lunch, we like to play cards and draw winter scenery.

How to Build a Human Snowflake:
First, we need an ice crystal in the center.

Then, we need our friends to represent the sides of the snowflake.

How many sides does a snowflake have? Six!

Our new favorite song is "Snowflakes, Snowflakes!"

"Dance all around..."

"Touch the ground..."

"In the air..."

"Everywhere!"

We use our penguin measuring sticks to investigate things in nature.

Let's make a prediction of how deep the snow is.

Wow! The snow is eight inches deep!

Wednesday Friends Celebrate Valentine's Day

Decorating our Valentine's Day goody bags.

How many yellow bears do we have?

Meet some of our heart animals!

We love playing in Messy Materials no matter how cold it is.

Welcome to our fort!
